ProsAllows your foot to bend, Ankle Support, Comfortable, Great Traction, No Break-in
This is a very good hiking shoe. I've been trying a couple different shoes lately, and this one suits me best of the 4. I did recieve these as a B-day gift, but I picked them out. I've only had them a month, but have several good, hard, cross-country hikes on them. Very nice looking, no break in, very breathable, and excellent Vibram sole, offering good traction on dirt, very confident grip on rocks, low profile, I feel more connected to the ground. Will the grippy, "softer" sole last, we'll see. Probably the best feature of the Riva Mesh is it's width, (I have a fairly wide forefoot). This allows my foot to bend more naturally. The shoe is fairly flexible, so my feet may work a bit more, but this is what I want. The combo of a thinner midsole, combined with a flexible, but quality outsole is a great blend for my needs, (mostly fast paced, cross-country, lots of gain & drop, varied terrain). The laces are very close together even on my wider foot,(see photo), so, they may be too wide for a normal foot. The mesh seems rugged enough, and has an inner layer, so my foot doesn't get real dirty, but stays cool. I replaced the stock insole with a more substantial one, which gives a higher arch, a bit more support, and possibly cooler. Even on narrow-edged rocks, the sole displaces the load so as note to feel a pressure point. If your looking for a light, breathable, quality shoe with a great sole, good looking and wide in the forefoot, I'd give this shoe a go.

I had a toe implant put in my great toe joint. I suffered for a while getting over complications of mersa after the surgery. This is the only shoe that saved me. Foot Solutions and their fancy shoes could not even help. I am still wearing only this shoe as a favorite a year later because of the comfort and the great quality. Thanks Teva
