Leather more distressed than I would like

I wear these for work and casual. I am disappointed in the leather look and feel. It appears too distressed with too much color variation. it's not smooth like my previous moc toe Skecher boots. The leather is almost orange in spots and appears dry even after two apps of quality boot oil on brand new shoes.

ConsThe leather color is not the same on both boots.
I ordered these for my son who had the exact pair but over time, he needed a replacement. I will return this pair due to the discoloration between the left and right boot. His old pair was just fine so hopefully, the pair we just got is an exception.

I wear these on a daily basis.....very comfortable shoe.....getting ready to order a 2nd pair as this style boot is hard to find in my area....
