I got these for my middle school son. He had the DC mid tops light weight which wore out very quickly - even the soles and were too flimsy. This style appears that they will last awhile as they are solid construction and the bottom tread is decent. There is a thick heal / ankle support on the back and the tongue. Foot cushioning is just ok. He has wide feet and these fit right. Not tight nor very wide. Red laces and yellow tread and character to the black and are not over powering. As the fad is to not tie your sneakers, I wish DC would make a way for the kids to do this without the laces being an issue, but that is with all sneakers. Anyway - my son loves them and could not wait to wear them.
