I bought a pair of these shoes when I sprained my foot, and this shoe provided support allowing the foot to heal better than sandals I had been wearing. I got the best of both worlds--sandals with the feel of athlethic shoes wrapped up in one. I bought an additional pair for my sister who liked my shoes.
