My shoe size is 7-1/2 so I ordered an 8. It was a little large. I exchanged for 7 W. Very comfortable. It fits great BUT if you really need a wide show this is only marginally wider than medium width. I have what I consider average size calves and the opening is just right; doesn't flip-flop when I walk, and just enough room for tuck ins. It's very comfortable also. I really like that it hugs my Achilles-ankle area, is totally water proof, and easy on with the straps.
