Heavy, too long, strong synthetic smell

ConsStrong Synthetic Smell, Too Long
These shoes are larger than other Skechers casual style shoes I have. I first ordered the same size, which was too big, then half size down which still feels too big due to the exposed sole at the toe area. They're fairly heavy too, so get uncomfortable after walking a while. I use these primarily to sit at my desk at work, but like others have mentioned there's a strong synthetic smell emanating from them. I thought they'd disperse by now but it has been over 3 weeks even after airing them out in front of HVAC vents. Otherwise they're OK, not my fav pair of shoes unfortunately.

ConsPoor Quality, Wear Out Quickly
My wife bought these shoes for me since I am on my feet a lot. After about six months, the material on the cap and sides begin to crack and peel off. It's not like I work around oil or grease, I work in a office. They claim to be leather uppers but this is some type of laminate material that cracks and peels. At eight months the material between the heel and the shoe developed a two inch split all the way through the shoe. This is the second pair I have worn and the 1st pair did the same exact thing. I like that fact that the wide width is comfortable but for that kind of money I don't think a shoe that bills itself as a work shoe should start falling apart after a few months of wear. I would hate to see what happens to the shoes in a harsh working environment.
