"I liked the wedge on the boot and the color, however, I returned them because the rounded toe combined with the length gives a funny awkward look (not hip or polished). If you dress quirky and like vintage clothing then these might work for you. Def not worth the retail value though."

"Why I purchased this boot:
I am only 5'0" and needed a black mid-calf wedge boot. Most "mid-calf" boots come nearly up to my knees because I am so short. This boot has a listed shaft height of 13", so I jumped on it. Though, the listed measurements were significantly off (see below).
Fit:
I ordered a size six and it feels true to size.
Measurements:
I could not find anywhere on Famous' website that says from which point they measure the shaft of the boot (different websites do it differently), but the listed measurements felt really off, so here are the measurements I made on my size 6:
- shaft height as measured from the heel of the foot, not including the wedge (i.e., measured from where the bottom of the heel part of your foot actually sits and therefore, equivalently, from the top of the wedge): 10.5"
- shaft height measured from the middle of the arch: 12"
- heel height: 3.25"
- circumference measured at the widest point, which happens to be at the top of the shaft: 14.5 inches
- shaft height as measured from the heel of the foot, not including the wedge (i.e., measured from where the bottom of the heel part of your foot actually sits and therefore, equivalently, from the top of the wedge): 10.5"
- shaft height measured from the middle of the arch: 12"
- heel height: 3.25"
- circumference measured at the widest point, which happens to be at the top of the shaft: 14.5 inches
So the listed measurements were just way off. That the shaft height was smaller than listed works to my advantage, but that the circumference is bigger does not. My calves are downright swimming in this boot (11" calves); which was very disappointing.
I do not think the discrepancy in the circumference measurement can be attributed to the size of the boots I ordered, since most measurements are taken from size 7 or 8 shoes. If it was size-specific, then one would expect a smaller circumference for a smaller (size 6) boot, not 2.5" bigger.
The look:
- Shape-wise, they look as pictured, so if you like the style, there will be no surprises.
- Material-wise, I think they are much prettier in person; it's like a black faux suede with tiny shiny dots that give it a slick sheen. It's just enough shine, not so much that it's tacky looking. Whereas in the picture, I feel like the material actually looks a bit shabby and dull, not shiny. But maybe that's just me.
Quality:
Very good, as far as I can tell.

"I love these boots. Unlike most full length boots they slip on easily without opening zippers etc. and are the most comfortable boots I own. Want some height but want some comfort, wedges are the way to go. Love, love these"
